Women's Bowling Competes at Second AMCC Round Robin

ALTOONA, Pa. - La Roche bowling's 2021 conference season came to a close Saturday afternoon in the second AMCC Round Robin. The Redhawks traveled to Altoona, PA where they competed against the south group of the conference (New Jersey City, Penn St. Altoona, Mt. Aloysius) for the second time this season. The matches were played in the traditional format.

LRU dropped their first match to Mt. Aloysius by a total pinfall of 812-664. Senior captain Alyssa Smith (Pittsburgh, PA/Bishop Canevin) had the best score out of all 25 bowlers at the event in the first game, posting an impressive score of 182. Sophomore Caitlin Stewart bowled the next best score (132) in the first game followed by Ashley Kennedy (128), Belle Orange (112) and Ashley Krivansky (110).

The Redhawks bowled their best match of the season in the second game against New Jersey City. Although the Redhawks lost to the Gothic Knights, they posted a season-high pinfall of 746. Ashley Kennedy (Warminster, PA / William Tennent HS) led the Redhawks with a score of 205, the second best score of the entire day. The 205 mark is also the second highest of Kennedy's career in a traditional game. Alyssa Smith bowled her best game of the day as well, posting a career-high score 184. Freshman Ashley Krivansky (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) had her best game of the day with a 152 followed by Belle Orange (107) and Caitlin Stewart (98).

In the third match, La Roche fell in a nail-biter to hosts Penn St. Altoona, 667-634. Kennedy once again led the way for LRU with a 176 followed by Smith (135) and Krivansky (125). Sophomore Kayla Hatzis (New Brighton, PA/Riverside) and freshman Marissa DeSensi (New Brighton, PA/New Brighton) stepped in for the third match. Hatzis posted a 115 and DeSensi an 83.

Ashley Kennedy finished with the fifth best average score (169.67) among all bowlers and her teammate Alyssa Smith finished with the sixth best (167.00).

New Jersey City and Mt. Aloysius will represent the south group in the AMCC semi-final.
