Redhawks Reel in Two Wins vs. Pitt Bradford

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - La Roche women's bowling faced Pitt.-Bradford in a rescheduled meeting Sunday afternoon at Playmor Lanes in West Mifflin. The teams played two best-of-5 baker matches and one in the traditional format. The Redhawks won the traditional meeting and split the best-of-5 baker games with the Panthers. 

In the first match of the day, played in the traditional format, Freshman Ashley Kennedy (Warminster, PA/William Tennent HS) bowled a team-high 170 in the victory of Pitt Bradford. Two other Redhawks finished right by Kennedy; Senior Jessica Nakamura (Alea, HI/Kamehameha Kapalama) bowled a 166 and Freshman Caitlin Stewart (Loretto, PA/Penn Cambria) bowled a 156. LRU won the match by a score of 702-665, their third highest total pinfall of the season. 

Then the format switched to best-of-5 baker. Pitt Bradford came out swinging, defeating the Redhawks in the first two games, 275-235. La Roche lost the first game by only one point. The Redhawks then put on an impressive rally, winning the next three straight games by a combined pin fall of 431-395. La Roche lost the first best-of-5 baker match by a narrow four-point margin, 666-670. 

The teams headed into the final best-of-5 baker tied 1-1 on the day. The Redhawks managed to shoot over 140 in all five of their final games and defeated the Panthers by a combined score of 756-707 in the final match. The mark is the highest total pinfall recorded by La Roche women's bowling this season.
