ERIE, Pa. – La Roche women's basketball earned its fifth consecutive trip to the AMCC Championship game, taking down Mt. Aloysius, 76-59, in the semifinal.
It was even over the first 4:30 of play, as both teams sat tied at 5-5.
The Redhawks would counter with an 11-2 run, building a 16-7 lead with 2:36 remaining.
The Mounties would go on to score six of the final eight points and La Roche's lead sat at 18-13 going into the second.
In the first minute of the second, Mt. Aloysius tied the game with the first five points of the frame, then over the next 5:30, the Mounties took the lead from the Redhawks, 26-25.
The remainder of the half, La Roche outscored Mt. Aloysius, 16-4 and took a double-digit, 41-30 lead into the half.
Out of the locker room, the Redhawks briefly built a 10-point lead of 43-33, but the Mounties cut the deficit to 43-37 by the midway point of the quarter.
Entering the final minute of the third, La Roche scored 10 of 12 points and regained a 14-point lead of 53-39 and would lead 53-41 going into the fourth.
To start the fourth, Mt. Aloysius would score the first six points and an overall run of 8-0 going back to the third to only trail by six yet again, 53-47. Once again, al scoring came in the opening minute.
Yet again, a 9-0 run by La Roche moved the needle back to 62-47 and from that point, the double-digit lead would never be relinquished and the red and white coasted to victory.
For the game, the Redhawks shot 45.3% (29-for-64) from the floor and 4-for-16 (25%) from deep. From the charity stripe, they went 14-for-25 (56%).
On the other side, the Mounties went on to shoot 29.2% (19-for-65) from the field, 6-for-26 from deep (23.1%) and 15-for-20 (75%) from the foul line.
Alexis Robison led all scorers on the night with 19 points, four rebounds, two assists and four steals.
Dasja Anderson followed with 17 points, five rebounds and three assists, while both Jazmine Dunn and Kiyanna Dowling added 11 points. Dunn contributed five assists and five steals to her stat line.
Off the bench, J'La Kizart scored nine points, added nine rebounds and had three steals.
The Redhawks move into the AMCC Championship Game and for the third straight year will face Penn State Behrend.
La Roche will look to get revenge for last year's championship defeat and end a three-game skid against the Lions, tomorrow, Saturday, Mar. 1 at 3 p.m.
