Redhawks Pull Away From Celtics 76-59

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's basketball welcomed Carlow on Wednesday night and after three hard-fought quarters, pulled away in the fourth, defeating the Celtics, 76-59.

It was all Carlow in the opening two minutes, jumping ahead to a 7-0 lead.

The Redhawks countered with a 7-0 run of their own and at the midway point, the score would be tied, 9-9.

The red and black took their first lead when they made it 13-12 and followed that with another bucket to move up 15-12, but the Celtics would score seven of the final 10 points, taking a 19-18 lead into the second.

In the second quarter, Carlow pushed ahead further in the first minute, pushing the edge to 26-18.

La Roche pushed within three on multiple occasions and ultimately, when trailing 36-33 with under two minutes to go, scored the final four points of the half to take a 37-36 edge into the break.

Out of the locker room, the Celtics would net the first four points to move back ahead, but 13-0 stretch by the Redhawks catapulted them ahead, 50-40, with 3:47 to go.

A 6-0 run by Carlow followed to make it a four-point game yet again, but the red and black would move back ahead by nine, 58-49, going into the fourth.

In the fourth, the Celtics would manage to trim the deficit down to six one last time, but La Roche would dominate the final 4:21, not allowing another point as the red and black scored the final nine points of the game to seal the victory.

For the game, the Redhawks shot 44.4% (32-for-72) from the floor and 7-for-18 (38.9%) from deep. From the charity stripe, they went 5-for-8 (62.5%).

On the other side, Carlow went on to shoot 35.4% (23-for-65) from the field, 9-for-21 from deep (42.9%) and 4-for-5 (80%) from the foul line.

Alexis Robison continued her hot streak with a game-high 26 points, while also adding nine rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Dasja Anderson followed with a double-double, scoring 11 points and securing 12 rebounds, while Avina Norman netted 10 point and eight rebounds off the bench.

Makayla Abram also scored 10 points to go alongside three rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

La Roche concludes regular season play on Saturday, Feb. 22 and will honor five seniors before meeting Penn State Altoona. Opening tip is set for 4 p.m.
