
ERIE, Pa. – La Roche women's basketball saw its nine-game winning streak end at the hands of Penn State Behrend, falling to the Lions, 83-61.
The opening quarter was all Behrend, jumping ahead early, before taking a 17-5 lead into the second.
The Redhawks would battle back to within five, 21-16, with 6:21 remaining in the second.
Down 27-20 with 2:53 to go before half, the Lions ended the quarter with a 9-0 run, making it a 36-20 deficit for the red and black at the break.
Out of the locker room, La Roche got the offense rolling, scoring 30 in the third quarter, but Behrend was still able to put 23 more points on the board, as the deficit was cut to as little as seven, but was still 59-50 in favor of the home team entering the fourth.
Unfortunately for the red and black, the hot shooting halted in the fourth and were outscored, 24-11 in the final frame, suffering just its fifth loss of the season.
For the game, the Redhawks shot 38.1% (24-for-63) from the floor and 1-for-9 (11.1%) from deep. From the charity stripe, they went 12-for-18 (66.7%).
On the other side, the Lions went on to shoot 51.6% (33-for-64) from the field, 6-for-14 from deep (42.9%) and 11-for-15 (73.3%) from the foul line.
Three Redhawks ended the night in double figures, led by Jazmine Dunn, scoring 14 points to go alongside two assists and six steals.
Avina Norman followed with 12 points and four rebounds off the bench, while Dasja Anderson netted 11 points with eight rebounds.
La Roche returns home to host Hilbert on Saturday, Feb. 8. Opening tip is slated for 4 p.m.
