PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's basketball returned home as they welcomed Alfred State to town, coming out victorious for the seventh straight time, 86-54.
The opening quarter was saw La Roche jump out to a 6-2 lead, but the Pioneers were down just 9-7 with 3:43 to go.
With 3:25 remaining, the Redhawks began a 10-0 run to pull ahead 19-7, before ultimately taking a 22-12 lead into the second.
Over the first 1:24 of the second, the score was 25-15, but the red and black would go on to score 10 of the next 12 to build the margin to 35-17.
By the time halftime reached, La Roche built the lead up to 20 points, 45-25.
Out of the locker room, Alfred State scored the initial bucket, but a Redhawk run of 10-0 again pushed the margin up to now 55-27.
By the midway point of the third quarter, the red and black had pushed the edge up to 30 and over the remainder of the third and through the fourth, never allowed the lead to drop lower than 29 as they cruised to victory.
For the game, the Redhawks shot 40.8% (29-for-71) from the floor and 13-for-28 (46.4%) from deep. From the charity stripe, they went 15-for-18 (83.3%).
On the other side, the Pioneers went on to shoot 28% (17-for-49) from the field, 4-for-13 from deep (30.8%) and 16-for-23 (69.6%) from the foul line.
Three Redhawks ended the night in double figures, led by Jazmine Dunn.
Dunn ended the contest with a game-high 21 points on 7-for-11 shooting and 4-for-4 from three, while also adding in five rebounds, nine assists and a pair of steals.
Alexis Robison contributed 20 points to the cause, while Dasja Anderson netted 16 points and seven rebounds.
La Roche returns to the court Wednesday, Jan. 29 for a matchup against Mt. Aloysius. Opening tip at the Kerr Fitness Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.
