
HILBERT, N.Y. – La Roche women's basketball traveled to Hilbert for an AMCC matchup Saturday and ended the night with a dominant 97-46 victory over the host Hawks.
The opening quarter was saw La Roche jump out to a 4-0 lead in the first 3:35 until the Hawks would even the score 6-6 at 5:21 remaining.
Still tied 8-8 with 3:56 to go, the Redhawks used a 13-2 run to take a 21-10 lead into the second quarter.
To start the second quarter, the red and black pushed the lead up to 17, 29-12, with 7:26 on the clock.
Leading 31-17 with 6:13 remaining in the half, La Roche utilized a 15-1 run over the next 4:23 to open a 46-18 lead and took a 46-22 edge into halftime.
Out of the locker room, the Redhawks continued to build on the lead in the third behind a 12-1 run over a two-minute stretch and led 71-34 going to the fourth.
La Roche continued to pull ahead in the fourth and coasted to the end for the victory.
For the game, the Redhawks shot 57.1% (36-for-63) from the floor and 5-for-17 (29.4%) from deep. From the charity stripe, they went 20-for-24 (83.3%).
On the other side, the Hawks went on to shoot 28% (14-for-50) from the field, 5-for-17 from deep (29.4%) and 13-for-19 (68.4%) from the foul line.
Five Redhawks ended the night in double figures, being led by Avina Norman.
In 17 minutes off the bench, Norman went a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor, scoring 18 points to go alongside two rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals.
Jazmine Dunn scored 15 points on 7-for-10 shooting, three rebounds, six assists and three steals, while Makayla Abram, Alexis Robison and Dasja Anderson all scored 10 points.
La Roche returns to the court Wednesday, Jan. 15 for a matchup against Pitt-Greensburg. Opening tip at the Kerr Fitness Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.
