Redhawks Dominate Panthers To Open 2025

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's basketball opened 2025 with a dominant performance, taking down Pitt-Bradford, 93-33.

It was all Redhawks from the jump, pushing ahead to a 9-2 lead early in the first quarter.

With the lead at 11-6 with 5:34 to go, La Roche scored 13 of the final 16 points in the frame to lead 24-9 going into the second.

The second quarter was much of the same, as the red and black scored the first nine points in the first 2:02.

The lead only continued to grow, as the Redhawks poured in a total of 29 points to the Panthers nine, taking a 53-18 edge into the locker room.

Out of the break, the red and black continued to stifle Pitt-Bradford, limiting the Panthers to just 15 points over the final 20 minutes, while scoring 40 more, in route to the victory.

For the game, La Roche shot 50.7% (36-for-71) from the floor and 7-for-17 (41.2%) from deep. From the charity stripe, they went 14-for-22 (63.6%).

On the other side, the Panthers went on to shoot 21.2% (11-for-52) from the field, 3-for-23 from deep (13%) and 8-for-12 (66.7%) from the foul line.

Four Redhawks scored in double figures with Alexis Robison leading the way.

Robison netted 16 points behind 7-for-11 shooting, while also adding seven rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Makayla Abram scored 13 points to go with nine rebounds, three assists and two steals, followed by 12 points, six rebounds and three assists from Dasja Anderson.

Jazmine Dunn contributed 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Despite not hitting double figures, J'La Kizart loaded the stat sheet with nine points, four rebounds, eight assists, five steals and a block.

La Roche now has a week to prepare for Hilbert, when they hit the road to face the Hawks on Saturday, Jan. 11. Opening tip is set for 4 p.m.
