
HIRAM, Ohio – La Roche women's basketball closed out the 2024 portion of the season in non-conference play at Hiram, coming out on top 60-54.
After the Terriers opened the game with a quick 4-0 run in the first 59 seconds of action, La Roche responded with an 11-2 run over the next 4:58 to take an 11-6 lead.
Still holding the edge at 16-12 with under a minute to go, Hiram scored the final four points of the opening quarter to send it into the second tied 16-16.
The second quarter saw stingy defense on both sides, especially by the red and black, who outscored the Terriers, 9-0 over the first 7:53 and ultimately 11-5 in the frame to take a 27-21 lead into the break.
Out of the locker room, Hiram quickly cut the deficit to 27-25 in the first 48 seconds of action, but with 7:04 remaining, La Roche's lead was back up to 36-29.
Less than two minutes later, that lead was down to 37-36 and yet another 6-0 run by the red and black moved the needle back to 43-36, then never allowed it to come closer than three, leading 50-43 going into the fourth
The final quarter saw just one field goal by each side in the first 5:27 of play, but yet again, the Redhawks never allowed the deficit to come closer than three until the final minute.
A pair of Hiram free-throws made it a 55-54 game with 46 seconds remaining, but the red and black hit their free-throws down the stretch to seal the victory.
For the game, La Roche shot 38% (19-for-50) from the floor and 6-for-13 (46.2%) from deep. From the charity stripe, they went 16-for-25 (64%).
On the other side, the Terriers went on to shoot 38.9% (21-for-54) from the field, 4-for-20 from deep (20%) and 8-for-11 (72.7%) from the foul line.
Two Redhawks scored in double figures with Alexis Robison's huge night leading the way.
Robison netted 21 points behind 5-for-7 shooting from deep, while also adding eight rebounds and four steals.
Jazmine Dunn contributed 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals to the cause.
La Roche has itself two weeks off to prepare for Pitt-Bradford to open the New Year. The Redhawks welcome the Panthers to the KFC on Jan. 4, opening tip set for 4 p.m.
