PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's basketball took on #19 Carnegie Mellon this afternoon and in the end it was the nationally ranked hosts coming out on top, 72-47.

It was all Carnegie Mellon the majority of the opening quarter, scoring the first 14 points over 7:54 to open the game.

It wasn't until 2:06 remaining when the Redhawks scored its first point of the game, but salvaged the rest of the quarter with a 7-0 run to trail just 14-7 going into the second quarter.

The second quarter was another small spurt by the Tartans to rebuild a 12-point lead, but with 3:55 to go, trailing 25-14, the red and black used a quick 4-0 run to go back down by seven, but two of the final three baskets went to the hosts as CMU took a 29-20 lead into the half.

Out of the locker room, it was the Tartans who sparked offensively, using just like the first quarter, a 14-0 run over the first 4:06 to open a 23-point lead and despite La Roche pushing with 14, the deficit for the red and black sat at 55-38 going into the fourth.

The final quarter was all CMU, outscoring the Redhawks 17-9 to close out the victory

For the game, La Roche shot 33.9% (19-for-56) from the floor and 0-for-9 from deep. From the charity stripe, they went 9-for-11 (81.8%).

On the other side, the Tartans went on to shoot 38.6% (27-for-70) from the field, 4-for-18 from deep (22.2%) and 14-for-21 (66.7%) from the foul line.

Two Redhawks scored in double figures with Dasja Anderson's 17 points on 6-for-10 shooting, alongside seven rebounds leading the way.

Jazmine Dunn contributed 11 points, five rebounds and a pair of steals to the cause.

La Roche has one final matchup before the calendar flips to 2024, on the road against Hiram, Friday, Dec. 20. Opening tip is set for 6 p.m.
