Redhawks Regular Season AMCC Streak Ends At Hand Of Lions

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's basketball saw its 47-game AMCC regular season win streak come to an end Wednesday night, falling to Penn State Behrend, 74-60 in an AMCC Championship Game rematch.

The opening quarter was even half way through as the teams traded baskets, leading to an 8-8 score.

It was a 5-0 run at that point, lifting the Redhawks to a 13-8 lead and held the lead at the end of the quarter, 17-14.

To start the second quarter, the Lions utilized a 6-1 run, taking their first lead of the game, 20-19.

Once again, the teams continued to trade scores, but with 3:44 remaining in the half, La Roche was back on top 27-23.

The final stretch saw Behrend score six of the final eight points to even the score at halftime, 29-29.

Out of the locker room, the teams continued to trade buckets, but with the score still even at 33-33, a 6-0 run by the Lions catapulted them ahead, 39-33.

La Roche climbed back within three at 41-38 with 4:42 remaining, but an 11-0 Behrend run made it a 52-38 game and stayed in double figures through the end of the third.

In the final quarter, the Lions continued to hold onto the double-digit lead over the first 5:30, but the score never came closer than nine points as the guests closed out the victory.

For the game, La Roche shot 36.4% (24-for-66) from the floor and 3-for-16 (18.8%) from deep. From the charity stripe, they went 9-for-18 (50%).

On the other side, the Lions went on to shoot 48.3% (29-for-60) from the field, 3-for-15 from deep (20%) and 13-for-16 (81.3%) from the foul line.

Only one Redhawk ended the night in double figures and it was Dasja Anderson with a 14 point, 14 rebound double-double.

Jazmine Dunn scored eight points, five rebounds, six assists and six steals, while Makayla Abram and Alexis Robison both scored eight as well.

La Roche returns to the court Saturday, Dec. 14 for its final home game in the 2024 calendar year, hosting Chatham at 12 p.m.
