Redhawks Cruise Past Bobcats 87-46

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's basketball returned to the floor Monday night hosting Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse. In the end it was the Redhawks cruising to an 87-46 victory.

La Roche jumped ahead quickly, leading 7-2 in the first 1:16, but the Bobcats would use the next near seven minutes, limiting the Redhawks to just two points and trailing by a score of just 9-6.

In the final 1:41 of the opening quarter, the red and black outscored their opposition 12-1 to take a 21-7 lead heading into the second quarter.

Both offenses began to click in the second quarter, with the Bobcats trimming the deficit down to nine at a pair of points.

Leading 33-21 with 4:24 remaining, La Roche closed the second half on a 12-2 run to take a 45-23 lead into the break.

Out of the locker room, the Redhawks took advantage of a foul filled quarter and utilized stellar defense to outscore the Bobcats 27-8 to bring a commanding 72-31 lead into the fourth.

The final frame was even amongst the teams, both scoring 15 points, as the red and black cruised to the dominant victory.

For the game, La Roche shot 38.5% (30-for-78) from the floor and 6-for-26 (23.1%) from deep. From the charity stripe, they went 21-for-31 (67.7%).

On the other side, the Bobcats went on to shoot 33.3% (20-for-60) from the field, 0-for-6 from deep and 6-for-12 (50%) from the foul line.

Altogether, 12 Redhawks scored a basket on the night and four players ended in double figures.

J'La Kizart led the team in scoring with a loaded stat line of 21 points on 7-for-12 shooting, eight rebounds, nine steals and three blocks in 24 minutes off the bench.

Alexis Robison and Jazmine Dunn both scored 14 points with Robison contributing four rebounds and four steals, while Dunn added five rebounds and three steals.

Kiyanna Dowling was the fourth in double figures, netting 12 points to go alongside five rebounds, four assists and five steals.

La Roche returns to the court Wednesday, Dec. 4 to open AMCC play on the road against Mt. Aloysius. Opening tip is set for 7 p.m.
