Redhawks Roll Past Celtics 90-48

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's basketball dominated the second half to pull away from Carlow and come one win away from a second consecutive undefeated AMCC regular season in a 90-48 win.

The first quarter opened with the Redhawks starting out with an 8-2 lead, that quickly turned into a 10-10 tie with 4:57 remaining.

After a scoreless 1:37, La Roche went on to outscore the Celtics 10-1 in the final 3:20 of the opening quarter to take a 20-11 lead into the second.

The Redhawks opened its first double-digit lead at 24-13 over the first 1:52 of the second quarter, but Carlow followed with a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to 26-22 with 4:24 left until the half.

La Roche briefly opened the lead back up to eight after a 4-0 run, but a 5-2 stretch by the Celtics ended the half to make it 32-27 at the break.

Out of the locker room, the Redhawks took complete control, using a 14-3 run after the teams traded buckets early third quarter to open a 52-35 lead at the 5:26 mark.

After a pair of buckets by Carlow, La Roche ended the third on an 8-0 run and took a 63-39 lead into the fourth.

With the game at hand, the Redhawks used one more 11-0 run in the fourth quarter to build an 82-43 lead and La Roche would seal the victory.

For the game, the Redhawks shot 56.1% (37-for-66) from the floor and 6-for-14 (42.9%) from deep. From the charity stripe, they went 10-for-16 (62.5%).

On the other side, the Celtics went on to shoot 34.5% (20-for-58) from the field, 3-for-20 (15%) from deep and 5-for-10 (50%) from the foul line.

Four Redhawks went on to score in double figures, with Dasja Anderson leading the charge.

Anderson put together a 23-point performance to go alongside five rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals.

Machia Hairston scored 17 points with eight rebounds, five assists and three steals, while Makayla Abram also netted 17 points to go with six rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.

Alexis Robison contributed 10 points, six rebounds and three assists as the fourth player in double figures.

La Roche concludes the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 17 when it travels to Penn State-Altoona. Opening tip is slated for 2 p.m.
