40!: Redhawks Earn 40th Straight AMCC Regular Season Victory, Take Down Hawks 76-58

HAMBURG, N.Y. – La Roche women's basketball earned its 40th consecutive AMCC regular season victory and its 10th straight win this current winning streak, taking down Hilbert 76-58.

The first quarter was a battle, as the Redhawks saw themselves trailing 10-8 with 4:25 remaining.

La Roche countered with a 7-0 run over the next 2:15 to take a 15-10 lead and held an eventual 15-14 lead heading into the second.

In the second, the Redhawks opened leads of five-points and six-points throughout the first five minutes of play, but with 2:56 left in the half, the Hawks tied the game at 27-27.

The teams traded buckets and a brief 4-0 run pushed La Roche into a 35-32 lead heading into the break.

Out of the locker room, the Redhawks dominated the third quarter to the tune of 24-10.

A 7-2 run by La Roche started the quarter to open a 42-34 lead, then after a bucket by Hilbert, a 10-0 Redhawks run followed to firmly hold a 52-36 lead. By the end of the quarter it was La Roche leading 59-42.

In the fourth, the Redhawks upped the lead to as many as 21 points and La Roche coasted to the final of 76-58.

For the game, the Redhawks shot 53.4% (31-for-58) from the floor and 5-for-13 (38.5%) from deep. From the charity stripe, they went 9-for-12 (75%).

On the other side, the Hawks went on to shoot 44.2% (23-for-52) from the field, 5-for-16 (31.3%) from deep and 7-for-12 (58.3%) from the foul line.

Five Redhawks hit for double figures, with Dasja Anderson and Jazmine Dunn leading the way.

Anderson netted 17 points, seven rebounds and three steals for La Roche, while Dunn matched that 17 points with five rebounds and five assists,

Alexis Robison followed with 14 points and four rebounds, while Machia Hairston came off the bench to score 11 points with nine rebounds and Breanna Clemons in the start scored 10 with four rebounds of her own.

La Roche now focuses on its final home stretch of the season, a two-game home stand, beginning with Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday, Feb. 7 against Pitt-Greensburg. Opening tip is slated for 7 p.m.
