AMCC Releases Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams; Gissendanner Named Coach of the Year & Sanders Named Player of the Year

PITTSBURGH, PA - The Allegheny Moutain Collegiate Conference released the All-Conference Women's Basketball teams, Coach of the Year, and Player of the year. 

To start off, Head Coach Kam Gissendanner was named AMCC Coach of the Year. 

Coach Gissendanner led her team to an undefeated conference season (14-0). The team's overall record for the season is  20-7, making Gissendanner's career La Roche record 202-59, one of the most winningest records in Division III basketball. This year's AMCC Championship is her 8th with La Roche, and this will be her 4th NCAA Tournament Appearance. 

Danajah Sanders was named Player of the Year and to the All-Conference First Team. Sanders has been the leading force for the Redhawks all day long, even when she wasn't at her strongest. Sanders averages 16.9 points per game, and this season has scored a total of 410 points, Sanders also showed her versatility as a team player and in the process earned 75 total assists averaging out to 3.3 per game. From the three-point range, the senior is shooting at 35.6 percent and from the floor at 45.4%. She has also recorded 52 rebounds, 54 steals, and 1 block.

Machia Hairston was voted to the All-Conference First Team. Machia Hairston ended regular season play this year with 11 double-doubles in rebounds and points. the senior averages 16,4 points per game and 10 rebounds per game. This season Hairston netted a total of 377 points and snagged 259 boards. She also contributed 44 assists,25 steals, and 15 blocks.

Makayla Abram for the second year in a row was named to the AMCC All-Conference Second Team. 

Abram this season, after being named newcomer of the year in the 2021-22 season showed that she should still be seen as a scoring threat. The sophomore averages 15.5 points per game. 6 rebounds, has 25 steals, and one block. This season Abram scored a total of 350 points and 156 rebounds.
