Women's Basketball Defeats Hilbert to Earn Ticket to the AMCC Title Game

PITTSBURGH, PA - Women's basketball defeated No. 5 Hilbert for the third time this season in their semi-final matchup this evening. With an 83-49 victory in their possession, the Redhawks will be entering the AMCC Championship Final contest tomorrow afternoon.

La Roche took an early lead in the first quarter and never looked back. The Redhawks moved on the court as a force, communicating and playing high-intensity defense with hyper-focus.

The paint was an area this evening that was generous to La Roche; more than half of the team's total points came from the forward's battleground. The proof can be seen in Machia Hairston and Makayla Abram's stat line.

Hairston led with 19 points for the day. The senior shot 50% from the floor and went 5-for-5 at the free-throw line. Hariston led in boards with 7, also leaving now room up to imagine how the Redhawks capitalized on second-chance points.

Abram followed directly behind her teammates, netting 18 bucks for herself. She earned a 58.3% shot percentage for the evening, and only missed one foul shot.

Jazmine Dunn ran the floor once more, earning herself 7 assists, 5 rebounds, 5 points, and 1 steal.

Danajah Sanders shot 4-for-9 this afternoon adding 9 points to the scorebook.

Getting some court time in this contest was Alexis Robison, and Voo Jackson, each adding 7 points to the team's tally.

The Redhawks will be back on Scott Lang Court tomorrow to face off against No. 2 Penn State Behrend at 4:00 PM. Awards will follow directly after the ceremony.
