Day One for Women's Basketball in the Wittenberg Holiday Classic

SPRINGFIELD, OH - Women's basketball played their first game this afternoon in the Wittenberg Holiday Classic. Unfortunately, the ball and the fouls did not fall in their favor.

The Redhawks got into foul trouble early; Jazmine Dunn, Makayla Abram, and DJ Whittington all fouled out of this afternoon's contest.

Danajah Sanders stepped up for her team and her numbers show. The senior shot 50% from the three-point line, and 50% overall. She ended tonight's contest with 29 total points.

Where La Roche did capitalize on scoring opportunities was second-chance points. The Redhawks attacked the offensive boards and for their efforts earned double the points that the Tigers did.

Machia Hairston led the rebounding charge once more. Hairston recorded yet another double-double with 1o rebounds and 13 total points.

Despite fouling out, Abram managed to earn herself 10 points, shooting 71% from the field goal range.

The team will compete again tomorrow in the Holiday Classic against Asbury.
