AMCC Names Danajah Sanders Pre-Season Player of the Year

The pre-season coaches' poll is out for Women's Basketball and predicting good things for the university you know and love. La Roche University is predicted to once again take home the AMCC Championship title. We have successfully won the past nine of 11 AMCC women's basketball championships thanks to head coach Kamela Gissendanner who has been with LRU for 10 seasons. League coaches also predict Penn State Behrend to finish in second, with Pitt-Greensburg following in third.

La Roche senior Danajah Sanders was named AMCC Preseason Player of the Year. In 2022 Sanders was selected for the AMCC all-conference second team. Last season she averaged 13.7 points per game. A season ago the Redhawk tallied 346 points, 63 assists, and 55 steals. Sanders has also been labeled a player to watch this year.

Sophomore Makayla Abram was named a player to watch in the 2022-23 season. Abram was titled newcomer of the year last season. In her rookie season alone she averaged 12.4 points per game, totaled 309 points, and captured 159 rebounds.

La Roche should keep an eye out for Penn State Behrend as they kickstart the 2022-23 season. Players like Rachel Majewski and Brianna Dean will not hand over the AMCC championship title without putting up a fight. It's safe to say both Behrend and Pitt- Greensburg has their sights set on the league title.
