@LaRocheWBB Travels to D'Youville for the AMCC Game of the Week

BUFFALO, NY - First place La Roche women's basketball will play at third place D'Youville College this Saturday, February 1st in the AMCC Game of the Week. Earlier this season, the Redhawks defeated the Spartans at home in a close bout, 61-57. Tip-off for Saturday's contest is set for 4:00 p.m. at the College Center Gym on D'Youville's campus. Saturday's contest will be La Roche's third AMCC Game of the Week this season. LRU defeated both Hilbert College and Pitt Greensburg by double-digits earlier this season in conference Games of the Week.

La Roche (OVR: 13-5, AMCC: 13-1)

Last Time Out: The Redhawks got their largest win of the season against Mt. Aloysius Wednesday night at the Kerr, defeating the Mounties decisively, 91-46. 11 of the 12 Redhawks who appeared in Wednesday's contest scored, led by Senior forward Jenna Cole who finished with a season-high 22 points and 10 rebounds, her third double-double of the season. As a unit, La Roche knocked down a season-high 36 field goals while shooting 55% from field, also a season best. The Redhawks dominated underneath, out-rebounding the Mounties 53-26 and out-scoring them inside the paint 58-24.

  • Now 13-1 in conference play, La Roche owns a one game lead in the standings over Hilbert College (12-2) with six conference games remaining. 
  • Including last Wednesday's victory, La Roche has won four conference games this season by at least thirty points and ten by at least ten points.
  • Over their last five games, the Redhawks have averaged 17.2 assists.

News and Notes

  • The Spartans have won each of their last three games and six of their last seven since the new year started in large part due to Freshman transfer Sara Pfeiffer.
  • Pfeiffer has established herself as a force in the conference. She has scored at least 18 points all eight games since joining the team and is averaging 21.0 a game for the Spartans. Pfeiffer set a school record with 10 three-pointers earlier this season. 
  • Reigning AMCC Newcomer of the Year, Danielle Hore, has played a huge role for the Spartans as well, averaging 12.6 points per game (2nd on team) and 8.1 rebounds per game (1st on team) this season.
  • D'Youville has done well on the boards this season, averaging 45.6 rebounds per game in conference play (2nd in AMCC).

  • La Roche women's basketball owns a perfect 20-0 record against D'Youville dating back to the 2010-11 season.
  • In their last contest against the Spartans on January 4th, 2020, La Roche escaped a second half surge by D'Youville to win, 61-57. Jenna Cole posted a game-high 20 points and eight rebounds.
