ERIE, Pa. - La Roche women's basketball faces last season's AMCC Tournament Runner-Up, Penn St. Behrend, this Saturday, January 11th at the Junker Center. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m.

La Roche (OVR: 7-4, AMCC: 7-0)

Last Time Out: La Roche women's basketball extended their win streak to six games Wednesday night after taking down the Alfred St. Pioneers convicingly, 83-65. La Roche, now 7-0 in AMCC play, moved the ball with fluidity against the Pioneers, posting a season-high 26 assists on 34 field goals. The mark is the most assists in a single game by the Redhawks since February 11th, 2017. A whopping five Redhawks finished in double-digit scoring figures on the evening led by Sophomore guard Danajah Sanders who tied her season-high with 15 points while shooting 7 of 15 (47%) from the floor. (Dasja Anderson: 14, Shaundrea Butler: 14, Jenna Cole: 13, Ayanna Mazyck: 13). Junior guard Shaundrea Butler put together one her most well-rounded performances of the season finishing with 14 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and a steal while shooting an efficient 6 of 9 (67%) from the field and 2 of 3 (67%) from beyond the arc. The Redhawks defense made key adjustments after the first half. Alfred St. shot 18 of 27 (67%) in the first/second quarters and 11 of 35 (31%) in the third/fourth quarters. The Pioneers were limited to just three total field goals in the third quarter.

News and Notes

  • The Redhawks have won 12 straight regular season conference games dating back to last season.
  • Senior forward Jenna Cole is only 11 points away from becoming the 14th Redhawk to join the 1,000 point club. Cole, who played her Freshman season at AMCC school Pitt Greensburg, has scored 1,387 points in her collegiate career and 989 points so far in three seasons with La Roche. 
  • At 7-0 in AMCC action, La Roche remains atop the AMCC standings. But two teams, one of which is Penn St. Behrend, are only one game behind the first place Redhawks. 
  • Against the conference, LRU averages 72.7 points per game (2nd in AMCC) while their opponents average 56.0 points per game (2nd best in AMCC).

News and Notes 

  • The Lions, at 6-1 in conference play, are tied with Hilbert for second in the AMCC standings, just one game back of La Roche.
  • Penn St. Behrend has won seven of their last eight games, their most recent loss coming at D'Youville on Dec. 4 by a score of 68-59 (the Redhawks defeated D'Youville earlier this season in a close battle, 61-57).
  • Pitt Bradford (2-5, AMCC: 2-10) came close to topping the Lions last Wednesday (1/8), but Behrend held on to win 63-59
  • Sophomore guard Caitlin Carnuche leads the Lions in scoring with 16.2 points per game (4th in AMCC). Carnuche is tied first in the conference in total three-pointers (32) and ranks second in the league in 3-PT% (42%).
  • 5'11" Sophomore forward Alanna Dibble leads the Lions in rebounding with 9.3 rebounds per game (4th in AMCC) and ranks second on the team in scoring (13.1 PPG). Dibble ranks first in the AMCC in field goal percentage (55%).
  • Penn St. Behrend has distributed the ball well this season, averaging 16.0 assists per game as a unit (T-1st in AMCC)
