Ayanna Mazyck Named AMCC Player of the Week

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Monday afternoon, the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference selected Junior guard Ayanna Mazyck of the women's basketball team as the Player of the Week. The Philadelphia native transfered to La Roche from Harford Community College for the 2019-20 season. The conference honor is Mazyck's first. Earlier this season, she was named the La Roche Athlete of the Week (12/3)

Mazyck led the Redhawks to a 2-0 record on the week averaging 18.0 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game while shooting 15 of 22 (68%) from the field. Mazyck recorded a double-double in the AMCC Game of the Week vs. Pitt Greensburg on Saturday (12/21), tying her season-high with 20 points and reeling in 12 rebounds in route to a 73-63 La Roche overtime victory. La Roche took down Mt. Aloysius earlier last week (12/18) 73-41, their largest margin of victory all season. "A" scored 16 points shooting a near perfect 6 of 7 from the field. 

Women's basketball, now 5-0 in AMCC action, stays atop the conference standings for the second week in a row. The Redhawks play again Saturday, January 4th at the Kerr when they host D'Youville at 3:00 p.m.
