Women's Hoops Wins AMCC Regular Season Title, Will Host AMCC Tournament

ALTOONA, PA -- The La Roche women's basketball team is the official #1 seed after beating Penn State-Altoona 73-64. They are AMCC Regular Season Champions for the eighth time in nine seasons and will host the conference tournament. The Redhawks close the regular season a 15-3 conference record and 16-8 record overall.

Penn State Altoona opened the scoring going up 7-2 early in the first quarter, but the Redhawks fought back and regained the lead, ending the first quarter ahead 22-21.

The second quarter was neck and neck. La Roche used a 6-0 run to help stretch the lead 33-26. entered the half up 45-41.

The third quarter had a similar feel, as both teams played great back and forth action. The Redhawks stayed on top and closed the quarter up 59-55.

La Roche finished out strong, as they had their biggest lead of 9 points with 15 seconds left in the game. They outscored Altoona every quarter and went on to win 73-64.

The Redhawks shot 40% from the field and 33.3% from behind the arc. They gathered 44 rebounds and 14 assists total. And, executed 18 points off turnovers and 19 second chance points.

Jenna Cole, Dasja Anderson and Shaundrea Butler all had strong performances.

Cole finished with 25 points and 8 rebounds. Anderson had a double-double as she finished with 15 rebounds and 20 points. Shaundrea finished with 6 assists and 18 points.

On both sides of the court, a few players end with some impressive stats.

Jenna Cole will finish first in the AMCC in points per game at 20.2. Dasja Andersons finishes fifth in field goal percentage at 48.8%.

Defensively, Shaundrea Butler finishes second in steals per game at 2.7. She also is the leader in the AMCC in assists per game with 6.2.

After a successful season, La Roche will be hosting the AMCC playoffs.
