Women's Hoops Soars Past Hilbert, Climbs Into Tie Atop AMCC Conference

PITTSBURGH, PA – La Roche women's basketball ran away from Hilbert and into first place in the AMCC standings after defeating the Hawks 76-54. The Redhawks improve to 5-5 on the season and 4-1 in the AMCC Conference.

Jenna Cole finished with a game-high 19 points. Dasja Anderson had a solid game with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Danajah Sanders scored 12 points including two big second half three pointers. Dalesza Regan and Nia Thomas each dish out five assists.

La Roche shot 51% (32 of 63) and hit 6 of 14 three-pointers. The Redhawks limited Hilbert to 32% (16 of 50) from the field and forced Hilbert into twenty-six turnovers.

The Redhawks opened the game on a 12-3 run. La Roche flashed a terrific post game early with Jenna Cole and Dasja Anderson providing 10 of the first 12 points. La Roche maintained a nine point lead until late in the first quarter. Hilbert's Katelyn Proy altered shots inside as she provided five blocks in the first quarter.

La Roche stretched a one point lead into 29-22 lead at halftime. Five different Redhawks scored points over the course of the run. The Redhawks limited Hilbert to just 33% from the floor in the first half and forced 15 Hawk turnovers. Dajsa Anderson and Jenna Cole each scored 9 points while Anderson pulled down six rebounds.

La Roche used a 13-4 third quarter run to take control of the game. Cole provided 10 of the run's 13 points including a three and an old fashioned three point play. The Redhawks outscored Hilbert 30-15 in the quarter.

Danajah Sanders and Sidney Farmer found the hot hand in the fourth quarter. Sanders hit threes from both corners while Farmer buried multiple threes from the top of the key. Sophia Yoder provided a pair of assists on the buckets. Yoder hit her first career field goal late in the game.
