BEAVER, Pa. – La Roche softball returned to action on Saturday afternoon, splitting a doubleheader with Penn State Beaver.
GAME ONE: Penn State Beaver 6 La Roche 1
Game one scoring started in the bottom of the second inning, when the Lions put four on the board to take the lead.
Beaver would add another run in the third and then in the top of the fourth, the Redhawks were able to score their lone run.
Samantha Dixon drove in the lone run, bringing home Maura Wade on an RBI single.
The final Lion run crossed in the bottom of the fifth to make the eventual final score.
Klover Haberthier started the game, throwing four innings, allowing five runs, five hits and walked one.
Kynnydy Lewis threw the remaining two innings, allowing one run, three hits and walked one.
Offensively, the Redhawks ended with six hits, led by Finley Hohn's 2-for-3 outing.
GAME TWO: La Roche 6 Penn State Beaver 5
Game two saw Beaver jump out in front in the bottom of the first inning, plating a single run.
La Roche had a response in the top of the second with an Anastacia Jacobs RBI single to tie the game, but in the bottom of the second, the Lions were back ahead, 2-1.
The Redhawks would score three unanswered from there, including two runs in the top of the third off a Garrah Milochik, two RBI single, then in the top of the fourth, Emma Bizay added an RBI single of her own to make it 4-2.
La Roche's lead was short lived, as Beaver countered in the bottom of the fourth with two runs to tie the game at 4-4.
The tie stuck around until the top of the seventh, when the Redhawks came up with two runs to take the lead again.
Iyarah Hicks scored the first run on a wild pitch and the insurance run was brought in by Dixon on an RBI ground out.
The Lions would threaten in the bottom of the seventh, but only plated one run as La Roche came away with the win.
In game two, Wade tossed a complete game in the circle, allowing five runs, 11 hits, one walk and struck out one.
Offensively, the Redhawks had 11 hits, with Dixon's 3-for-4 leading the way. Hohn also contributed another two hits.
La Roche is back in action on Wednesday, Apr. 2 when they face Penn State Altoona for the opening AMCC doubleheader. First pitch of game one is set for 3 p.m.
