Redhawks Sweep Pitt-Bradford on Senior Day

Redhawks Sweep Pitt-Bradford on Senior Day

PITTSBURGH, PA - La Roche Softball played a doubleheader matchup against AMCC opponent, the Pitt-Bradford Panthers.

GAME ONE

A seven-running dominating inning led the Redhawks to an 11-2 win over the Panthers in game one.

Ashlee Bair led in RBIs for the day, totaling seven.

La Roche was the first on board in the first inning. The team snuck in the run after a wild pitch from the Panthers' pitcher, and then an error by the catcher on the throw to third base.

Contributing to the Redhawks' big second inning were Katie Gaughan, Emma Bizay, Kennedi Winslow, Bair, and Alexis Myers. Each had RBIs in the inning.

Winslow earned the W in the circle. She threw four and a thirds innings of the contest, surrendering two runs on six hits, and striking out one. Ashtin Hoover threw to the final two batters of the game, earning the final two outs.

La Roche earned nine hits in today's contest. Katie Gaughan led at the plate going 2-for-3.

GAME TWO

La Roche in game two earned another win, by the skin of their teeth. The Redhawks ended the contest with a final score of 5-4 to sweep the Panthers this afternoon.

This time the Panthers were the first on the board, recording two runs in the second inning. La Roche was able to answer with one of their own in the bottom of the third but didn't hit their stride until the fourth inning.

Alexis Myers, Abby Hoffman, and Brandi Clyde all reached base right in a row. An error by the left fielder allowed Myers to score, and a wild pitch from the Panthers' circle gave Hoffman the leeway she needed to score a run. Katie Gaughan reached base on a bunt and pushes in another run, tying the game up at 4-4. Emma Bizay earned the RBI that would officially take the lead back for the Redhawks, she grounded out but gave Hoover the opportunity to cross home plate.

Neither team would score another run for the rest of the duration of the contest, but that's all the Redhawks needed in order to bring home the win, 5-4.

Myers earned the victory in the circle. The righthander went all seven innings for La Roche. She allowed four runs on four hits.

Bizay, Bair, Myers, Hoffman, and Clyde each recorded one hit in game two.

The Redhawks will be away for the rest of their regular season, kicking it off with a doubleheader against Grove City tomorrow, April 24th. Games are set for 3:00 and 5:00 PM.
