Softball Sweeps Hilbert Hawks on the Road

HAMBURG, PA - La Roche traveled to Hibert College for a conference matchup against the Hawks. 

GAME ONE

La Roche earned a win in game one, defeating the Hawks 8-4. The Redhawks got the first run on the board, scoring one run on an error in the second inning, they scored one more in the third inning before hitting their stride in the top of the fourth, scoring 5 runs.

Garrah Milochik and Alexis Myers knocked in the runs of the inning,  after Macy Vignolini, Emma Bizy, Mariah Schussler, Ashlee Bair, and Kennedi Winslow reached base after putting in work at the plate. 

The team added one more run in the fifth, Winslow this time earning the RBI after Katie Gaughn reached base on a bunt. 

Winslow earned the win in the circle for the Redhawks. The freshman went six innings, surrendering 4 runs on 4 hits, and striking out 3. Myers threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. 

Redhawks finished out game one with 13 hits, Winslow leading going 3-for-4 at the plate. La Roche did not commit a single error in the field, and Jessalyn Daniels had 12 chances in the field to lead the team. 

GAME TWO

In game two the Redhawks' firepower really came to life at the plate, defeating the Hawks 14-2 to sweep today's doubleheader. 

Garrah Milochik earned two RBIs in the first inning with a single, putting them once again the first on the board.

In the second inning, La Roche socked 5 runs to increase their lead. Kennedi Winslow and Ashtin Hoover earned RBIs in the inning. Abby Hoffman, Macy Vignolini, and Ashlee Bair fought hard at the plate to put themselves in scoring position.

The Redhawks' second big inning came with six runs. The big bats were led by Emma Bizay, Hoover, Milochik, Alexis Myers, and Hoffman, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. 

La Roche earned one more run in the fifth inning, this time Bizay earning the RBI, socking a ball to right field. 

Myers was crowned the winning pitcher for game two. The righty allowed 3 runs on eight hits, striking out one. 

Your Redhawks will return home this Monday against Thiel before returning to conference play on Wednesday against Penn State Altoona.
