Redhawks Fall in Conference Opener

Redhawks Fall in Conference Opener

PITTSBURGH, PA - La Roche Softball opened their conference season this afternoon against the Penn State Behrend Lions at home.

GAME ONE

The Redhawks held the Lions scoreless until the third inning. The team allowed one run after some patient batting by Behrend. La Roche however, didn't let the run go unanswered. Alexis Myers earned the RBI after doubling on a 1-1 count, driving in the tying run.

Unfortunately, for the Redhawks, they could not hold off the offensive firepower of the Lions and would take their first loss of the conference season.

Kennedi Winslow started the game in the circle before she was relocated to the outfield and Alexis Myers came in. Myers would record the loss for the team. The righthander went two-thirds innings, walking one.

Myer's also led the Redhawks at the plate, going 2-for-4 to lead the team in hits. She also earned the team's only RBI of the game.

GAME TWO

La Roche in the second game seemed to not be able to leave game one in the past. This allowed the Lions to capitalize and take an early lead that the Redhawks could not catch up to.

Kennedi Winslow took the loss for the team. She threw two and one-thirds of an inning, striking out two.

Maria Schussler, Ashlee Bair, Katie Gaughan, Emma Bizay, and Garrah Milochik each recorded a hit for La Roche. Bizay earned the lone RBI.

The Redhawks will be on the road this weekend for their first road conference matchup against the Pitt-Greensburg Bobcats on Saturday afternoon.
