Softball Competes in The Spring Games in the Sunshine State

KISSIMMEE, FL - The softball team of La Roche University is spending spring break in the sunshine state competing in the Spring Games to get ready for their 2023 season back in the 'Burgh. 

 

LA ROCHE V MARIAN (3/5/23)

KISSIMMEE, FL - The Redhawks scored three runs in the sixth inning in their opening game in spring training against Marian Unversity. The offensive onslaught by La Roche was led by Ashtin Hoover, Kennedi Winslow, and Emma Bizay; all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Marian wasn't going down without a fight. The Sabre scored five runs in the sixth inning, taking the lead from the Redhawks for good. 

Alexis Myers took the loss for La Roche. The right-hander surrendered eight runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out one.

The team tallied six hits in their first game of the day.  Hoover and Winslow both collected multiple hits, tying for the most hits of the game for La Roche. 

 

LA ROCHE V COAST GUARD ACADEMY (3/5/23)

KISSIMMEE, FL - With a tough loss from Marian still on their minds, the Redhawks could not shake their funk, and with it, the team watched their second game against the Coast Guard Academy Bears game slip away early and couldn't recover.

The Redhawks struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing the Bears, giving up 11 runs.

A bright spot for La Roche was a single by Ashtin Hoover in the third inning.

Kennedi Winslow took the loss for the team. The pitcher went three innings, allowing six runs on six hits and striking out two.

Hoover and Emma Bizay each collected one hit to lead the Redhawks.

 

LA ROCHE V CATHOLIC (3/6/23) 

KISSIMMEE, FL - La Roche had a rough start on their second day in Florida as they took a rough loss to the Catholic University Cardinals. 

The Redhawks struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Catholic University, giving up 20 runs.

Myers took the loss for La Roche. The righthander lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing 11 hits and 16 runs while striking out one.

A bright side for the Redhawks was one home run on the day. Kennedi Winslow had a four-bagger in the fifth inning.

Winslow led the team with two hits in two at-bats.

 

LA ROCHE V MOUNT UNION (3/6/23)

KISSIMMEE, FL -La Roche Redhawks struggled to get their offense going against the Raiders, getting easily dispatched by Mount Union, 6-0.

One bright spot for La Roche was a single by Emma Bizay in the fourth inning.

Alexis Myers took the loss for the Redhawks. The right-hander surrendered four runs on five hits over three innings, striking out one and walking zero.

Myers, Kennedi Winslow, Bizay, and Macy Vignolini each collected one hit to lead the team.

 

LA ROCHE V SAINT JOSEPH'S (ME) (3/7/23)

KISSIMMEE, FL -The Redhawks fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 9-6 loss to Saint Joseph's this afternoon.

Despite the loss, La Roche did collect five hits in the high-scoring affair.

Emma Bizay took the loss for the team. The righty lasted two-thirds of an inning, allowing zero hits and four runs.

Brandi Clyde, Kennedi Winslow, Ashtin Hoover, Abby Hoffman, and Garrah Milochik each managed one hit to lead the Redhawks. 

 

LA ROCHE V MOUNT UNION (3/7/23)

KISSIMMEE, FL - Finally, on day 3 in Florida Head Coach Jason Kern, and the Redhawks recorded their first win of the season against Mount Union,  8-5. This is Coach Kern's first win at the helm of the La Roche softball program. 

The Redhawks opened up scoring in the first inning.  Kennedi Winslow hit a solo homer. This was Winslow's first collegiate career home run. 

Alexis Myers took the win from the mound. The righty allowed nine hits and five runs over seven innings.

The team racked up ten hits.  Winslow and Ashlee Bair all managed multiple hits for the Redhawks. Winslow led with three hits in four at-bats.

 

LA ROCHE V NORTHWESTERN (MINN) (3/9/23)

The softball team of La Roche Unversity stayed in it until the end, but the Northwestern Eagles pulled away late resulting in a loss for the Redhawks this afternoon.

The contest was tied until the fourth inning when the Eagles batted in one run and continued to add to their tally from there. 

La Roche got things moving in the first inning, when Garrah Milochik singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run, but struggled to get the rest of their offense in sync. 

Alexis Myers took the loss on the mound for the Redhawks. Myers allowed nine hits and five runs over four and a third innings, walking zero.

Macy Vignolini, Brandi Clyde, Kennedi Winslow, and Milochik all had one hit in this afternoon's contest.
