Redhawks Drop Double Header Against Medaille

Alexa Young sent Medaille down in order in the first. Medaille struck for two runs in the second but Young settled back with a 1-2-3 third inning.

Young was dominant over the middle part of the game as she threw perfect innings in the third, fourth, and fifth innings. She followed with scoreless sixth and seventh innings to give the Redhawks a chance.

La Roche went down in order in the seventh and Medaille hung on. Mavericks pitcher Laura Kratzke threw a perfect game.

Young tossed all 7 innings and allowed just one earned run.

 

Medaille 4 La Roche 0 

Medaille scored a pair of runs in the first inning. Kaylee Grassmyer threw a perfect second inning and Emily Samluk made a terrific double-play in the third inning. Grassmyer continued to pitch well but Medaille added a run in the fifth and sixth innings.

La Roche's best chance came in the sixth inning. The Redhawks advanced Kelly Denk to third and Alexis Medva to second, needing just a hit to get two runs. A strikeout ended the threat and allowed Medaille to hold on.

Grassmyer allowed just three earned runs over 7 complete game innings. Calloway went 3 for 3 and Medva went 2 for 2.
