Men's XC Finish 3rd at AMCC Championship

McCANDLESS, Pa. - The La Roche men's cross country team, led by head coach Jeff Dailey, finished third out of four teams at the AMCC Championship this afternoon. LRU hosted Penn St. Behrend, Alfred State College and Hilbert College for a 5K run around La Roche's campus and the Sisters of Divine Providence property. The Lions came in first over with a total team score of 23 followed by Alfred St. (32), La Roche (82) and Hilbert (103).

The Redhawks top finisher of the day was freshman Rene Abdalah (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) who finished 11th out of 34 individual competitors. In his first collegiate race, Abdalah ran a 20:52.38, an average mile time of 6 minutes and 43 seconds. Senior Tyler Frederick, a Preseason All-American on the men's basketball team, finished 13th overall with a time of 21:55.29 (avg. mile - 7:03). Senior Zachary Bauerle, the 2018 LRU 5K Champion, finished 14th overall with a time of 22:09.65 (avg. mile - 7:07).

Abdalah, Frederick and Bauerle were all named to the AMCC All-Conference team for finishing in the top 15.

Despite heavy rain and muddy conditions, a total of seven Redhawks braved the day and completed the 5K.
