Redhawks Battle To 1-1 Draw

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - La Roche men's soccer hosted Thiel in its second home fixture of the season, but in the end, a late Tomcat goal spoiled the potential of the Redhawks first win of the campaign, ending the match in a 1-1 draw.

It was La Roche who was first on the board, doing so in the first 20 minutes of play, as Ethan Illerbrun found the back of the net on an assist from Austin Emery at 18:32, with the freshmen duo giving the red and black a 1-0 lead they would hold going into halftime.

The second half was a very even game, chances on both ends, but neither team could get the finish.

Thiel would be the one to finally finish on the offensive end, scoring at 73:01 to even the match at 1-1 and send both teams home with their first draws of the season.

The shot total was heavily in favor of the Redhawks, by a total of 17-8, while shots on goal aso went the way of La Roche, 6-2.

Emery and Malvin Madzimbamuto both led the match with four shots each, while six different players all had one shot on goal.

In net, Maddox Anderson was able to stop one of the two shots he faced.

La Roche heads back on the road for one game, that takes place at W&J on Wednesday, Sept. 18, opening kick is slated for 7 p.m.
