Redhawks Tabbed Seventh In AMCC Preseason Poll

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. – La Roche men's soccer was selected seventh in the 2024 AMCC Preseason Poll, released by the conference on Wednesday.

The Redhawks finished last season with a 3-12-1 overall record and a 2-6-1 mark in AMCC playing, falling just short of a spot in the AMCC Men's Soccer Tournament.

La Roche returns a wealth of experience from the 2023 team and will be joined by 16 newcomers to the program.

The Redhawks return 70% of their offensive production from 2023, as 19 of the 27 goals scored will take the field in 2024, including one of their top goal scorers in Ramadhan Nkubas, a Preseason Player to Watch honoree.

Defensively, La Roche allowed 67 goals on the season and look for a big turnaround from the backline, with the help of transfer Nico Manos, a Preseason Player to Watch selection, who joins the Redhawks from Pitt-Greensburg.

Mount Aloysius earned the top spot in the poll, ahead of Penn State Behrend and defending conference champion, Alfred State.

Rounding out the top five are Pitt-Greensburg and Penn State Altoona.

Hilbert's sixth-place prediction concludes the list ahead of the Redhawks, then rounding out the order in eighth and ninth are Pitt-Bradford and Carlow.

La Roche's regular season kicks off on Friday, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. as the Redhawks meet Penn State Beaver at Franciscan in the Franciscan Tournament. The 2024 home opener is slated for Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m. when the red and black welcomes Waynesburg.
