Redhawks Drop Conference Match Against Alfred State

ALFRED, N.Y. – La Roche men's soccer was unable to come through with a second straight victory, as they were defeated by Alfred State 11-1 on Saturday.

 

Alfred State started the scoring just 2:35 into the match and would eventually head into halftime with a 6-0 lead.

 

At 54:04, the Pioneers made it 7-0, but the Redhawks would respond with their lone goal just 4:13 later when Tyler Bryan scored on an assist from Samuel Mastroberardino.

 

Alfred State closed the match with four more goals between the 59:26 mark and 86:01 point of the game.

 

The shot total was highly in favor of the Pioneers, 34-4 and shots on goal also favored Alfred State 19-2.

 

Between the pipes, sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Rizzo halted four of the 10 shots he faced, playing the first half, while fellow sophomore Logan McQueen made four saves of his own, facing nine shots.

 

Four different Redhawks had a shot in the game, including Bryan and senior Jake Gorman who combined for the two shots on goal.

 

La Roche concludes its road portion of the 2023 schedule when they travel to Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday, Oct. 18 for a 3 p.m. kickoff.
