Redhawks Cruise Past Celtics 5-1

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche men's soccer used four unanswered goal to cruise past Carlow 5-1 for its second AMCC win of the season.

 

The Redhawks started fast, netting the first goal of the match at 2:44 when Jake Gorman capitalized on a penalty kick to make it 1-0.

 

Carlow would respond with its lone goal at 24:30, making it a 1-1 game.

 

At the 38:09 Ramadhan Hamis Nkubas netted what goes down as the game-winning goal, assisted by Jesus Angel Jimenez to take a 2-1 lead into the half.

 

In the second half, La Roche scored in minutes 45, 55 and 65, with Samuel Mastroberardino, Gorman (his second of the game) and Jimenez all netting goals. Gorman would assist Mastroberardino and the roles were reversed on Gorman's goal.

 

The shot totals were even for the match, with La Roche holding a slight 18-15 edge. The Panthers placed eight shots on goal of their 15, while La Roche had nine.

 

Between the pipes, sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Rizzo halted seven of the eight shots he faced.

 

Gorman, Nkubas and Jimenez all had three shots, while Tyler Bryan led the team with four.

 

The Redhawks now hit the road, as they travel to Alfred, N.Y. to face Alfred State on Staurday, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m.
