Redhawks Downed By Mt. Aloysius

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Despite being the first to light the scoreboard, La Roche men's soccer was unfortunately unable to hold on, falling to Mt. Aloysius in its AMCC home opener, 5-1.

After a scoreless first half, the Redhawks opened the scoring just 13 seconds into the second half when Ramadhan Hamis Nkubas scored on an assist from Mario Pinilla Pont.

However, just 36 seconds later, the Mounties tied the game, opening a stretch of five straight goals.

Mt. Aloysius would then score goal two, three in four in 7:19 from 57:35 to 64:54 and then concluded the scoring at 78:46 with a penalty goal.

La Roche held its ground as long as possible, as it was outshot 29-3 in the game, with the Mounties placing 19 shots on goal and the Redhawks putting all three on net.

Between the pipes, sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Rizzo halted 14 shots on the night, helping keep La Roche in the game as long as possible.

Nkubas led the team with two of the three shots, while Anthony Valerio had the third shot.

The Redhawks continue their three-game home stretch on Saturday, Oct. 7 when they host Pitt-Bradford at 4:15 p.m.
