Redhawks Lose Second Straight Against Chatham

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The La Roche men's soccer team (1-4) lost to non-conference opponent Chatham University (2-2) by a score of 2-0 in the first ever men's soccer game at Ellis field in Shady Side.

In the first half, the Cougar's Freshman defender Ken Richard struck first off a ball from fellow Freshman Ryan Tahbaz in the 19th minute.

Throughout the second half, Forward's Kyle Harriett, Jake Gorman, and Peter Kuir put the ball on net to give La Roche some chances, but could not find the back of the net. Chatham scored their second goal with less than 30 seconds remaining on the clock when Freshman midfielder Marco Piccolo passed the pall to Tahbaz who scored the goal and recorded his 3rd point on the night.

In goal, Senior Austin Gorman started the match but was subbed for Junior Garrett Berner three minutes into the second half. Each goalie made 4 saves and allowed a goal. Berner has recently seen an increased role with the Redhawks playing 117 minutes in the last two contests.

In total, La Roche was out shot 8 to 22, 7 to 10 in shots on goal. The Cougars played a physical game in route to their 2nd win on the season recording 24 fouls and three yellow cards.
