Vicent Breaks Assist Record, Redhawks Draw With D'Youville

PITTSBURGH, PA – The La Roche men's soccer team played to a 2-2 2OT draw with D'Youville College on Saturday. Ximo Vicent tallied his thirty-sixth career assist to break Ryan Luffey's career assist record.

The Redhawks netted the important first goal, taking a 1-0 lead in the thirteenth minute. Dante Nicholas shot a ball into the box which clipped a Spartan defender's hand and earned a free kick. Ximo Vicent came through, striking a penalty kick into the back of the net.

Dante Nicholas buried a deflection in the twenty-fourth minute for a 2-0 lead. Vicent assisted on the goal, to become the school's all-time assists leader.

D'Youville headed in a corner kick to cut the deficit to one.

The Redhawks limited D'Youville's attack over the first thirty-five minutes of the second half. The Spartans were eventually able to find the equalizer on a scramble in front of the net. La Roche responded with pressure in the offensive end, but they could not find the game winner and it entered extra time.

The Redhawks dominated the first overtime period. They fired five shots and won two corner kicks.

La Roche played a quality second overtime, but they could not find the game winner.

The Redhawks outshot D'Youville 36-17 including 17-5 in shots on goal.
