Men's Soccer Closes Non-Conference Play With Defeat at Geneva
BEAVER FALLS, PA -- The La Roche men's soccer team closed non conference play with a 5-0 loss at Geneva on Wednesday night under the lights. The Redhawks will host Penn State Behrend in their AMCC opener on Saturday.
 
Geneva's Cole Sauer opened the scoring, deflecting a throw into a goal in the twelfth minute. The Golden Tornadoes directed one off the crossbar in the thirty-fourth minute and it looked like La Roche would enter halftime trailing by just one. Geneva's Joe Broadwick then tallied the second just two minutes before halftime for a 2-0 lead at the break.
 
The Golden Tornadoes held a 14-4 first half shot advantage and Austin Gorman made three saves.
 
Geneva's David McKinley headed in a free kick goal in the sixty-eighth minute. McKinley struck again with a header goal in the seventy-ninth minute. Geneva's Reed McCreery provided the fifth goal just before the final whistle for the 5-0 victory.
 
A majority of the Redhawks' roster saw action tonight. Gorman made 9 saves and Ximo Vicent attempted 3 shots.
