Redhawks Soar Past St. Vincent

LATROBE, PA – The La Roche College men's soccer team picked up a big non-conference victory, overcoming a second half deficit to defeat St. Vincent College 3-2. Kyle Harriett earned the game-winner while Hugo Arroyo and Firas Abdjuljawad tallied goals.

The Redhawks broke through in the fifteenth minute. La Roche earned a corner kick and Abduljawad sent a blast from 18 yards and into the top right corner of the net.

St. Vincent drew a foul in the box to earn a penalty kick in the twenty-fifth minute. The Bearcats Josh Kucmeroski stepped up and guided it past a diving keeper for a 1-1 game.

Play was nearly equal in the first half. La Roche held a slight 12-11 edge in shots and both teams were tied with 3 corners each.

St. Vincent goalkeeper Nick Bohn stopped a PK just two minutes into the second half. The Bearcats took the momentum and Kucmeroski converted in the fiftieth minute for his second goal of the game.

La Roche turned things around and came away with a big second half. Arroyo sparked the comeback with his first career goal in the fifty-seventh minute. Harriett netted the game winner in the sixty-fourth minute.

The Redhawks held the lead, but they continued to fire shots and pressure St. Vincent into tough saves. Austin Gorman held the Bearcats out of the net over the final thirty minutes.

Each team attempted 20 shots and 4 corners kicks. Abduljawad assisted on Harriett's game winner and Gorman made 4 saves.
