WAYNESBURG, PA -- The La Roche men's soccer team dropped their season opener to Waynesburg University 6-3 on Monday evening. The Redhawks had played a half at Waynesburg on Saturday evening, but play was negated due to lightning.

La Roche found the back of the net with ease in the first half. Ximo Vicent got the season's first tally, converting on a penalty kick less than ten minutes into the action. 

Waynesburg strung together a trio of goals between the 18 minute mark and 24 minute marks to take a 3-1 lead. La Roche did not panic and Dante Nicholas cut into the lead with a goal from thirty yards out and ten minutes left in the half. 

Ty Savochka found the equalizer seconds before halftime, blasting a free kick inside the front post.

Waynesburg grabbed the lead off a corner kick in the fifty-second minute. They added a pair of goals just 28 seconds apart and held on for the 6-3 victory.

Hugo Arroyo assisted on Nicholas' goal. Garrett Berner made 5 saves and did not allow a goal.
