Work Hits Overtime Winner to Keep Redhawks Unbeaten in AMCC

PITTSBURGH, PA – Nick Work buried a cross from Chad Trozzi to give La Roche men's soccer (3-5, 2-0) a 2-1 overtime win against Penn State Altoona (2-5, 0-2) and keep the Redhawks atop the AMCC Conference standings.

Both squads played scoreless soccer until early in the second half when Penn State Altoona's Karl Stephan scored. The rain started to come down following the Lions' goal but the Redhawks continued to find good chances. Bryan Weimerskich found the equalizer in the 81st minute. Ryan Luffey blasted a shot that careened off the Penn State Altoona goalie and Weimerskirch sent home his fourth goal of the season. Ten minutes later Work hit the game winner.

Weimerskirch and Work both had goals and Luffey and Trozzi added assists. Nick Sabol made 6 saves to record the win. La Roche outshot the Lions for the ninth consecutive game (23-17) and attempted more corner kicks.

The Redhawks will host Waynesburg on Thursday before returning to AMCC Conference action against Penn State Behrend in a matchup of unbeaten conference teams.
