ERIE, PA – La Roche men's soccer (9-10) fell to conference rival Penn State Behrend (17-4) 3-0 in their first-ever ECAC Tournament Quarterfinal on Wednesday afternoon.
The Redhawks came out firing and recorded five shots in the first 20 minutes. Tyler Irwin, a recent AMCC All-Conference Third Team selection, nearly gave La Roche an early one goal lead when he nailed a shot off the crossbar. Irwin also hit a post in the 62nd minute and Nick Work and Jonathan Mancuso provided quality scoring chances in the contest.
Irwin finished with 3 shots and Mancuso added 2 shots. Work, Ryan Luffey, Tyler Balzer, and Bryan Weimerskirch registered one shot each for the Redhawks. La Roche as a team tallied 9 shots including a very solid 7 shots in the first half.
