Men's Soccer Falls in Hard-Fought AMCC Semifinal

BUFFALO, NY – La Roche men's soccer (9-9) fell to Medaille College (16-2) 4-0 in a hard-fought AMCC Tournament Semifinal game on Wednesday. The Redhawks gave a valiant effort against a Mavericks team who has lost just three conference games since the 2005 season.

A penalty kick gave La Roche its best scoring chance of the game. After a Redhawk was hauled down in the box, Mark D'Uva blasted a PK off the Medaille goalkeeper but sent the rebound off the post. Nick Work, Gilbert Uwineza, Tyler Irwin, and Jonathan Mancuso also had quality scoring chances for La Roche.

D'Uva, Irwin, and Uwineza finished with 2 shots each to lead the Redhawks and Mancuso, Work, Chad Trozzi, Joshua Casey, and Tyler Balzer had one a piece.

Despite the loss, the Redhawks set a school record for most conference wins in a season and advanced to their sixth AMCC Tournament semifinals.

The men's soccer team will wait and see if they receive a bid to the ECAC Tournament. The tournament bracket will be released on Monday, November 5 at 5PM.
