PITTSBURGH, PA – Bryan Weimerskirch scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season in the Redhawks' (3-6, 2-1) 2-1 loss to Penn State Behrend (9-1, 3-0) on Saturday.
Weimerskirch gave La Roche a 1-0 lead when he buried a shot Chad Trozzi nailed off of the Lions goalkeeper. Trozzi dribbled on the Penn State Behrend endline and did a great job of keeping the ball in bounds before Weimerskirch found the back of the net.
Penn State Behrend answered with 2 goals but the Redhawks played tough defense to stay in it. La Roche's best chance came in the 84th minute when Gilbert Uwineza barely missed on a crossing attempt.
Weimerskich finished with a goal and Trozzi added an assist. Trozzi also led La Roche with 3 shots and Weimerskirch and Ryan Luffey registered 2 shots apiece. Nick Sabol made 7 saves in the loss.
The Redhawks return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Mt. Aloysius College. The Mounties are coming off a 6-0 win over Penn State New Kensington.
