Redhawks Fall in 2 Overtime Thriller

LATROBE, PA – The Redhawks' (1-4) outshot St. Vincent (5-2) 20-14 and committed just nine fouls in a 4-3 2OT loss to the Bearcats in an AMCC vs. PAC thriller on Friday evening.

Ryan Luffey gave the Redhawks a 1-0 lead in the 9th minute with his second goal of the season. St. Vincent answered late in the first half to make it 1-1 before Bryan Weimerskich and Nick Work scored consecutive goals to take a 3-1 lead. Weimerskirch scored by deflecting a shot off of the St. Vincent goalkeeper and Work headed a direct kick from Luffey into the back of the net. St. Vincent scored two late goals before the double overtime winner ended it.

Luffey and Weimerskirch each finished with 3 shots, a goal and an assist and Nick Work added a goal. Mark D'Uva recorded a game-high 5 shots and Chad Trozzi had 3 shots. Andrew Rice made 4 saves in 106 minutes in net.

Despite the loss, the Redhawks outshot St. Vincent 20-14 including 12-7 in the first half. La Roche also committed just nine fouls in the loss.

La Roche men's soccer will host Westminster College on Tuesday at 4:00PM. Last season's matchup ended in a 3-1 win for the Redhawks.
