Work Nets First Career Goal in Opening Game of Allegheny Classic

MEADVILLE, PA – Nick Work buried his first career goal and Chad Trozzi added an assist in the Redhawks (0-1) 3-1 loss to Allegheny College (1-0) in the Allegheny Classic on Saturday.

La Roche outplayed and outshot Allegheny despite entering the half with a 1-0 deficit. The Redhawks' recorded 6 of the first 7 shots and all 5 first-half corner kicks prior to Allegheny taking a one goal lead.

Work recorded the equalizer less than one minute into the second half on a cross from Trozzi. The tally kept the score tied until Allegheny netted the winner in the 61st minute. The host Gators would adde another goal 90 seconds later.

Despite the loss, the Redhawks outshot Allegheny 18-8 and held a 7-3 advantage on corner kicks. Goalkeeper Nick Sabol made 5 saves for La Roche.

La Roche men's soccer will close the Allegheny Classic tomorrow at 3:30PM against Hiram College. Hiram, a North Coast Athletic Conference school, defeated Wilmington College 4-1 on Saturday.
