Luffey, Balzer Score in Loss to Hiram College

MEADVILLE, PA – The Redhawks outshot Hiram College and attempted six more corner kicks in a 5-2 loss to the Terriers in the final game of the Allegheny Classic on Sunday.

La Roche (0-2) was the first to get on the board when Ryan Luffey buried his seventh career goal. Luffey's goal came at the 5:02 mark on a pass from Tyler Irwin.

Hiram answered with four goals in the first half despite the Redhawks dominating possession. The Terriers would add one more in the second half before Tyler Balzer found the back of the net for his first-career goal. Kurt Hoover assisted on the goal to register his first-ever point.

Chad Trozzi led La Roche with 5 shots and Luffey added 4 shots. Nick Sabol made 6 saves in the loss.

The Redhawks will travel to Penn State Beaver on Tuesday before returning to campus to play Washington and Jefferson on Saturday, September 8.

Note: Dave Hidinger and Tyler Irwin were named to the Allegheny Classic All-Tournament team.
