Redhawks Take Down Mitchell For First Win Since 2021

NEW LONDON, Conn. – La Roche men's lacrosse ended a 45 game losing streak on Thursday afternoon, winning their first game in exactly four years to the day, defeating Mitchell, 10-7.

The last victory came back on Apr. 17, 2021 when the Redhawks took down Wells, 11-2.

The victory wasn't easy for the red and white, as they trailed 2-0 after one quarter of play, then fell behind 4-0 after Mitchell scored two goals in the first 2:02 of the second quarter.

La Roche would score twice in a 55 second span, first at 11:41 in the second when Robert Johnson scored on an assist by Ben Cadamore, then Nolan Lynam at 10:46 made it 4-2, which stood going into the half.

Out of the break, Lynam played a pivotal role in getting the Redhawks back into the game, scoring twice in the first 2:59 to tie the game at 4-4.

Mitchell would respond with a pair of goals to go back ahead 6-4 in the third, but La Roche would score three straight to take a 7-6 lead into the fourth, with two goals by Lynam (one assisted by Alston Boyle) and a goal from Cadamore.

With 8:20 to go in the fourth, Lynam put the Redhawks up 8-6 with his sixth goal of the game, but Mitchell trimmed the deficit to one, just 1:07 later.

Cadamore would score his second of the day on an assist from Lynam at 5:52 to add some insurance, then at 3:05, Lynam's seventh goal was the punctuation mark to seal the long awaited victory for La Roche.

Shot totals were near even, with the Redhawks leading 50-48 and shots on goal went to Mitchell, 30-27.

Goalie Connor Radecki had a tremendous game in net, stopping 23 of 30 shots that came his way.

La Roche's is back in action on Wednesday, Apr. 23 when they travel to Pitt-Bradford for the final AMCC game of the regular season. Opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
