Redhawks Place 4th at Conference Championship

WARREN, Oh. - Men's golf played their final 18 holes of the season this morning at Day 2 of the AMCC Championship at Avalon Lakes Golf and Country Club. As a team, the Redhawks placed fourth overall out of nine teams by shooting a combined score of 690 (Day 1: 341, Day 2: 349). La Roche's top finisher for the second straight day was Senior David Wilson (Clinton, PA). He shot an 83 to close out his collegiate career, totaling 164 strokes at the tournament, good enough for 10th overall and two strokes better than he shot last season. Today was also the final round for three other seniors, Zech Sines (Somerset, PA), Kordell Collins (Huntingdon, PA) & Pat McCall (Elizabeth, PA).

Highlights

  • McCall shot a 90 on the day, finishing 26th overall at 176 strokes. Between both days, the Senior shot four birdies, fifth most among individual competitors. He was one of two golfers to birdie on the 8th hole of the front nine, ranked the most difficult hole on the course (per golfstat.com). 
  • Collins played consistent as he has done all season. Today he shot one more stroke than he did Saturday (85), finishing T-17th overall at 169 strokes, five strokes better than last year at Avalon. He made 14 pars and shot 2 birdies. 
  • Sines shot a 47 in all four rounds of the two day tournament for a combined score a 188, T-32nd overall. He made 9 pars. 
  • Freshman Casey Hulbert (Kennedy, Twp.) finished 27th overall shooting a combined score of 181. He made 11 pars and 1 birdie.
