Brooks Hits 1,000 In Dominant Win Over Celtics

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche men's basketball cruised to a much needed victory on Wednesday night, defeating Carlow, 91-66.

It was all Redhawks from the tip, jumping ahead to an 11-2 lead in the first five minutes of play.

By the midway point, the red and black continued to push ahead, leading 22-9 at that point.

The lead would balloon all the way to 34-15 with 4:23 remaining and La Roche took a commanding, 45-29 lead into the half.

Out of the break, La Roche continued to push and hold a double-digit lead, never allowing the Celtics to come any closer than 13 points and cruised to the dominant victory.

For the game, the Redhawks finished 29-for-56 (51.8%) from the floor and 12-for-27 (44.4%) from three. From the foul line, they made 21 of 27 attempts (77.8%).

On the other side, Carlow finished 22-for-64 (34.4%) from the field, 6-for-23 (26.1%) from deep and 16-for-20 (80%) from the free-throw stripe.

The Redhawks had three players in double figures, led by Bryce Epps who scored 20 points on 7-for-10 shooting, while also adding four rebounds.

Michael Brooks followed with 14 points, becoming the 18th player in program history to reach the 1,000 career point mark, adding eight rebounds and four assists.

Isaiah Thomas contributed 11 points to the cause and chipped in eight rebounds.

La Roche's final regular season game is a big one on Saturday, Feb. 22 against Penn State Altoona.

The Redhawks will celebrate their seniors and it's a must win game to host an AMCC Tournament First Round matchup. Opening tip is set for 2 p.m.
